Agatha's Dilemma ...
Agatha is single and is concerned about her ability to support a child. While she could offer the child up for adoption, she is convince she would lose her job.
So she asks some friend for advice and, boy, were they eager to advise!
"So tell us why you would consider abortion?" encouraged Tanya.
Agatha discussed her various options, weighing her concerns about
health and finances. "Mmmm, hmmmm," said Tanya after Agatha finished.
"Basically, you find abortion an option because it is inconvenient.
Is this your first pregnancy?"
"Wrong!" said Patrick. "Doesn't matter the reasons or circumstance. Abortion is wrong!
You will deprive the baby of a future like ours."
Joey acknowledged that one could consider, for arguements sake,
that a fetus is a person. But he wasn't convinced that it's wrong to have
an abortion. He said, "Just because it's a person doesn't mean it has a right to
hijack your body for nine months. After all, it is your body."
Tabitha said "Well, I not sure I agree with any of you. If, as
Joey says, the fetus is a person then it's wrong because killing people
is wrong. I just don't think it's a person, as Patrick says. After all,
you have to ask yourself a few questions. Is the fetus conscious? Does it
reason? Is it self motivated? What about it's ability to communicate?
I'm not conviced that a fetus has a self awareness or self concept."
"Wow!" said Agatha. "I see you all have very strong opinion. Maybe I
should have exercised my right to privacy in discussing the issue."
